Fan coils units are devices used to maintain a constant temperature in rooms and for ventilation. They are used in air conditioning systems based on the so-called chilled water. This means that the cooling / heating factor of the system is water, and not refrigerant (freon) as in air conditioners. The device works on the principle of heat exchange with the environment, it also brings fresh air into the room.
The units are made of specially galvanized sheet metal, ensuring maximum protection against corrosion. C & H offers the following types of fan coil units: wall, floor, duct and cassette. They are suitable for two-pipe systems. Due to their properties, fan coil units are recommended for offices, public spaces, but they can also be installed in apartments due to their quiet operation and aesthetic appearance, perfectly matching the decor of a modern interior.
The fan coil is the key element for chiller-fan coil air conditioning systems and central air heating systems. It is an air preparation unit and is designed to change the temperature and air circulation in the room. Fancoils can be used to control and change the climate in rooms for various purposes:
The operation of the fan coil unit can be controlled both manually using a mechanical thermostat, and automatically using a three-way valve with a servo drive.
In fan coil units, the refrigerant or heat carrier is water (or its mixture with ethylene glycol) – unlike air conditioners that use freon. The refrigerant from the chiller (water-cooling machine) or the heat carrier from the boiler is supplied by means of a pump to the heat exchanger (radiator) of the fan coil unit, to which air is blown by a fan. Acquiring at the same time the set temperature, the air is supplied to the room.
When choosing a fan coil, for the correct calculation of power, you should definitely pay attention to the volume of the room and the number of heat inflows. Also, you need to consider the following design features:
Depending on the installation location, fan coil units are distinguished:
Floor type fan coil units can be case -mounted (in a plastic decorative case – for surface mounting) and frameless (for installation in a plasterboard wall niche). The most common cassette and duct fan coil units in use. The former provide uniform air distribution in four directions, while the latter cover a large area of the room, thanks to an extensive system of air duct channels in the ceiling space.
